The best way to prepare for an interview or presentation is to practice, practice, practice.
Because I’ve worked as a reporter, I know the kinds of questions journalists are likely to ask. I understand their deadlines and how they put stories together. As a media relations professional, I’ve prepared hundreds of experts for interviews, and I can prepare you, too.
First, I’ll work with you to develop key messages that will resonate with your target audience. Then I’ll conduct a mock interview, asking the same questions reporters and customers will ask. You’ll get a chance to deliver your messages in your own voice and style until you’re comfortable. We can also videotape your interview and review it so you can see what works and what doesn’t. I will also help you:
- Navigate difficult questions
- Frame what you say so it’s more likely to end up in the final story
- Improve your confidence, posture and appearance
- Improve your delivery and credibility
- Choose what to wear for on-camera interviews
- Help you decide when you shouldn’t do an interview — or change your approach
